There is this one amazing thing about the Slovenian language: if you learn the alphabet you will be able to read. Please note that every language has its own specific sounds and the column with pronunciation is just an approximation. * L is pronounced l if it stands in front of a vowel or voiced consonant: Ljubljana, las, Lidija (Ljubljana, hair, Lidija). But, it is also pronounced w if it stands at the end of the word or in front of voiceless consonant: bil (read: biw), bel (read: bew). ** R is a bit like hard Scottish r. |
